Mom Life The Girl

Rainbows, Sprinkles, So much more!

I have a confession for you, gather round. Get real close to the screen  so I can whisper the words into your internet ears;  I hate birthday parties. Not just the part where you have to attend and wear pants, but the planning part. Interacting with multiple people and coordinating arrivals and decorations and..and..and. It’s enough to make me want to just crawl back under covers with a bag of Reese’s cups and the remote. However, kids man. Kids. Savannah is obsessed with birthdays and parties. The entire ritual is still so magical to her and I don’t have the heart to take that joy away just because I’m a slacker.  Plus, it gives my O.C.D a reason to be a thing that exists so I just roll with it. I obviously picked her first birthday theme (WinterOne-derland. Mom loves a good pun) but she picked her 2nd and 3rd themes based on shows and movies she liked at the time. I’ll never forget all the Trolls themed party ideas I collected and started planning for her 3rd Trollstice..when she abruptly changed her mind and demanded a Boss Baby Birthday party two weeks before her party. Demanded. Cried when I told her it wasn’t possible. And because moms a sucker for the water works has a big heart and Etsy saves lives, we made it happen. This year I was determined to get her locked into a theme early and in September, after tossing around the idea of just taking her to Charles Edward Cheddar ( Chuck E. Cheese for the uninitiated) on her actual birthday and making a cake, she decided on a Unicorn birthday party. Fun fact; I was a SUPER tom-boy as a kid so this whole “extra girly-girl” thing? Issa stretch for my imagination. Unicorns? You mean Narwhals?! Luckily, her God-mom helped pull all the little details together and her party this past Saturday was great. Take a peek at the pics below, I posted details so you can find these things yourself if you’re also a sucker in the biggest con of all:parenting big hearted.

I got this Backdrop off Amazon, it was super cute and perfect for a winter party. They make other unicorns, too.  We got the magical unicorn sign from the Dollar Tree and the silver unicorns are actually tulle and cupcake wrappers around a silver tree I had left over from her first birthday party.

The unicorn head balloons are also off Amazon and they came in a big pack with confetti balloons (I don’t have a picture of them after I got the confetti to stick), the teal, pink and purple balloons, cupcake wrappers, Happy Birthday banner (below) and gold ribbon.

These favor boxes are also from Amazon and I filled them with unicorn swag I collected at Walmart and Target in the party section. Remember those cupcake wrappers? We didn’t need them since ours were already decorated so we wrapped and hot glued them to our paper cups to make a really cute and quick enhancement.

We also made frozen pizzas after the party started and added them in on a silver tray. This runner is a iridescent white table cloth we found at Walmart and cut into sections.

Look at those little horns! We’ve had the same Baker do almost all of our birthday cakes and she is AMAZING.

I wanted her cake to be unique so we opted for a different horn and a green, blue, pink marble running through the icing.

We found these Unicorn ring toss and Pin the Horn on the unicorn game on Amazon. Savannah’s God mom found her birthday shirt and Unicorn headband on Etsy while her unicorn jeans are Old Navy and her Unicorn flats are from Gap. Miles made that face the whole party.

This punch Pinata was a GREAT idea and is perfect for little kids. It’s literally tissue paper, poster board, paper bags and wrapping paper. Each hole has a bag filled with prizes and candy and they punch through the paper (kids love punching things) and grab them out of the bag. Big hit! Get it? Because…NVM.
